Soursop is a tropical fruit with a spiky green skin and creamy, fragrant white flesh inside. The flavour sits somewhere between pineapple, strawberry and citrus, custard-like in texture, sweet with a soft balancing tartness. It is genuinely rare in the UK, and most British supermarkets do not stock it. For a fuller description, see our guide to what fresh soursop tastes like.

What you will receive: a whole fresh soursop fruit (single, 1kg) or a box of 5kg or 10kg, packed carefully to protect it during transit. Each fruit gives you soft, juicy flesh to enjoy fresh, blend into smoothies, or freeze for later.

Also known as: soursop, graviola, guanabana, guyabano, sirsak, Annona muricata. All names for the same tropical evergreen.

Origin: Ghana, West Africa. One farm, single-origin, hand-picked.

Where to buy fresh soursop in the UK

Fresh soursop is hard to find in British supermarkets, so we deliver it directly. You can buy whole fresh soursop fruit here, for sale all year round, shipped across the UK on a tracked 24 hour service in weekly batches. The price is per fruit on this page and delivery is charged by weight at checkout. If you have been wondering where to buy soursop in the UK, or looking for it for sale near you, this is the place. For the wider picture of UK stockists, see our where to buy soursop guide.

Is fresh soursop available all year round?

Yes. Soursop trees in Ghana fruit through the year, with heavier and lighter flushes rather than a single harvest. We hold stock and ship across the UK every month, so there is no wrong time to order. See our guide to soursop season for the detail.

Delivery and lead time

Fresh soursop ships in weekly batches on a tracked 24 hour service. Order by 5:00 PM on Friday for that week's harvest. It is dispatched the following Tuesday, usually arriving Wednesday (1 to 2 working days for some areas). Orders after Friday 5:00 PM are held for the following week. Fresh fruit delivery is UK only, charged by weight and calculated at checkout. For rates, see our shipping page.

How to eat fresh soursop

The simplest way: chill the ripe fruit, slice it lengthwise with a sharp knife, and scoop the white flesh out with a spoon. Pick out the big black seeds as you go, they are not edible. Eat the flesh straight from the spoon. That is how it is eaten in Ghana, the Caribbean, and across Latin America.

  • Blend it into a smoothie: combine the flesh with milk or coconut water, a banana, and ice.
  • Juice it: the Caribbean version is blended with milk and lightly sweetened, the West African version uses water and lime. See our soursop juice recipes for both.
  • Freeze it: scoop the flesh into bags and freeze for smoothies later. Soursop freezes well and keeps for months.

For the full cultural context, see how soursop is used in Ghanaian and Caribbean cuisine.

How to tell when it is ripe

A ripe soursop yields gently when pressed, about the firmness of a ripe avocado, and gives off a sweet, faintly tropical aroma at the stem end. Most fresh soursop arrives in the UK still firm. That is deliberate, so the fruit finishes ripening on your counter instead of bruising in transit.

To ripen a firm one at home, leave it at room temperature for one to three days and check daily. Once it gives gently under pressure, refrigerate it and eat within three to five days. For the full walkthrough, see our guide to ripening soursop at home.

Storage

Refrigerate ripe fruit and eat within three to five days. If you cannot get through it in that window, scoop the flesh into freezer bags, removing the seeds as you go, and freeze for up to three months. The flesh freezes well and is excellent for smoothies and sorbets later.

Single-origin sourcing

Our fresh soursop is hand-picked on the same farm in Ghana that grows our leaves, the same farm harvest after harvest. Our founder visited before launching the UK side of Soursoply and we still work with that farm today. Fruit is selected with no blemishes and picked at its most unripened state, which gives it the longest possible shelf life on your side, and from the tree to your door is no more than five days. For the longer story, see our sourcing guide.
